The face at the top of U.S. womens gymnastics will change next month when longtime national team coordinator Martha Karolyi retires following the Summer Olympics. The address that doubles as the programs heartbeat will not.USA Gymnastics has reached an agreement with Karolyi and husband Bela to purchase the training facility the couple owns in Huntsville, Texas. Financial terms were not disclosed, but a closing date of Aug. 24 has been set, just three days after the closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro and five days before Martha Karolyis 74th birthday. It has everything we could possibly ask for, USA Gymnastics president Steve Penny told The Associated Press. Along with what it represents to our heart and soul, as a physical facility, we couldnt go out and build it. Its been custom made what for what we want and need. You add up all the elements and its like Dang, what an easy decision. The Karolyis established the rustic estate in Sam Houston National Forest about an hour north of Houston in 1983, eventually expanding it to 2,000 acres. USA Gymnastics is buying 36.2 acres, including three training gyms, housing for up to 300 athletes and coaches as well as a dance studio, dining hall, medical and rehab facilities and recreational areas. The facility will also get a new name: the USA Gymnastics Athlete Development Center at the Karolyi Ranch. The Karolyis will keep their residence, a hunting lodge Bela Karolyi built and the remaining acreage. USA Gymnastics will have right of first refusal if the Karolyis decide in the future to sell off other parcels of land. The USA Gymnastics board of directors unanimously approved the sale, pointing to the amenities, the location and the unique aspects of the ranch -- which includes a vast array of wildlife from camels to peacocks -- that have helped turn the womens national team into an international powerhouse. The five-woman team Karolyi will lead to Brazil next month is heavily favored to back up the team gold medal it won with ease in London four years ago. This place has stood the test of time, Penny said. There things we have to make sure we do a little bit differently, we have to fix some things. Nothing that is going to require significant work. Its sturdy. Its a sturdy place to be.Karolyi announced her decision to step down after the Rio Games last summer. The Karolyis are expected to maintain a presence at the ranch, and USA Gymnastics is considering turning an older portion of the main gym -- one lined with pictures, medals and trophies from major competitions dating back to the 1980s -- into a museum to honor the Karolyi legacy. They are still a part of us, Penny said. They will always be a part of USA Gymnastics. Theyre still both going to play vital roles for us in the future. Martha will always want to drift into the gym and well always want her to do that.Bela Karolyi joked the sale means freedom for him to do as he pleases on the ranch while his wife of 54 years travels to visit family in her native Romania. Though the deal has been in the works for a while, the formal exchange of power will mark the end of an era. The Karolyis defected from Romania to the U.S. in 1981 and the ranch played a vital part in the U.S.s rise from also-ran to dominant force. When Martha Karolyi was elevated to national team coordinator in 2001, she installed a centralized system that required national team members to make regular visits to the ranch for training and to foster a team environment that can be difficult to cultivate in an individual sport. The U.S. has produced the last three Olympic all-around champions -- with reigning three-time world champion Simone Biles expected to make it four straight in Rio -- while adding two Olympic team silvers to go with the gold from London.Once everybody sees that this system is working and producing world and Olympic champions, they believe in it, Martha Karolyi said last fall. We believe they will be hopefully following in a same direction down the road. We want to make sure this is safe for generation after generation. While Penny considers Aug. 24 as Karolyis official retirement date, there has been no decision yet on her replacement.I have yet to have a formal discussion with anyone that has expressed interest, Penny said. Ive met with the coaches and told them our main goal is to get through Rio and not worry about making it a distraction. The Karolyis have pledged to donate $250,000 to USA Gymnastics after the sale.Thats how solid our relationship is with them, Penny said. This has been a very smooth and cooperative effort to get to a good place where everybody is comfortable with what were doing. Cheap NFL Nike Jerseys Online . Defencemen Drew Doughty, Shea Weber and forward Ryan Getzlaf also scored for the Canadians, who started their gold-medal defence 2-0. Goalie Roberto Luongo, getting the call in place of Game 1 starter Carey Price, was solid when needed in making 23 saves for the shutout. Nike NFL Jerseys China . Reassurance came from Paul Tesori, his caddie and close friend whose newborn son is in intensive care in a Florida hospital. "Paul sent me a text this morning, just told me he loved me and wanted to go out and fight as hard as I would any other day," Simpson said Sunday after doing just that. http://www.wholesalechinajerseyscheap.com/ .In my heart and mind Im competing for India, luge competitor Shiva Keshavan told The Associated Press in an email interview. Every day Im flooded with messages from Indians all over the world telling me they are supporting me. Wholesale Jersys From China . President of baseball operations Larry Beinfest was fired Friday after 12 years with the Marlins. The move came as the team neared the end of its third consecutive last-place season in the NL East. Wholesale NFL Jerseys China . The 26-year-old Ireland striker, who has four goals this season, has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with his new club. Newcomers dont take long to impact college basketball, not in this world of one-and-dones and transfers. Over a two-week span, we will look at the top-five newcomers in each of the 10 biggest conferences. Next up is the Atlantic 10.When conference realignment got through with shuffling teams around, folks understandably wondered if the Atlantic 10 could keep its foothold as a strong, albeit not power, conference. The answer lies in this crop of top newcomers. When a league is still good enough to not just attract top freshmen but is counted as a destination for graduate transfers looking to finish out their careers, its still pretty darn good.DeJon Jarreau, UMass MinutemenTiming is everything, and Jarreau has arrived just in the nick of time for coach Derek Kellogg. Kellogg had a good run, including two NIT appearances followed by an NCAA run in 2014, but he has struggled to keep the good times rolling in Amherst, slipping to 31-33 in the past two seasons. Jarreau is part of Kelloggs most heralded recruiting class (No. 27 nationally) and has fans hoping for a turnaround. A New Orleans native, he is a terrific shooting guard who earned the No. 63 spot in?ESPNs top 100. He averaged 16.9 points as a senior and is expected to make an immediate impact. Jarreau brought along high school teammate?Brison Gresham, who is hardly a slouch, having averaged 14 points and eight boards in high school. But Jarreau is the big prize. Hes also just the tip of the iceberg for the best recruiting class in the league.DeRiante Jenkins, VCU RamsSo much for worrying about filling big shoes. Second-year coach Will Wade has stepped in for Shaka Smart with ease, guiding the Rams to the NCAA tournament last year and also winning on the recruiting trail. Jenkins is a 6-foot-5 forward who grabbed the No. 59 spot in ESPNs top 100. Hes the perfect player for VCU: versatile, quick and fearless. Jenkins turned down multiple Power 5 schools such as Clemson, Tennessee, LSU and South Carolina to come to VCU. And thanks to the Rams summer trip to Spain, he already is figuring out where he fits in and how to create some havoc He scored 24 combined points in the Rams first two games there.Chris Baldwin, UMass MinutemenTwo Minutemen in the top five? Yes, its that sort of year for UMass, the lone Atlantic 10 team to earn a spot among the nations top 40 recruiting classes. A Springfield, Massachusetts native, Baldwin is expected tto be an immediate contributor from his forward spot.ddddddddddddThough hes able to score in the double figures, hes more of a blue-collar worker who should really be able to help defensively and on the boards. Baldwin looked at a host of other schools, including West Virginia and Pittsburgh, but his decision to stay home and play for UMass is almost as critical as Kelloggs ability to attract Jarreau to campus.Patrick Steeves, George Washington ColonialsAmid allegations and an investigation that coach Mike Lonergan verbally abused players, and with a roster that has seen 13 players transfer out in the last five years, the Colonials got some much-needed good news with the addition of Steeves. A Harvard graduate transfer, Steeves was a valuable sixth man for the Crimson last season. He suffered through a series of injuries during his Harvard career, including a broken metatarsal, torn ACL and a leftover tibial break from the torn ACL that required more surgery, but when he finally got healthy and was able to play, he delivered to the tune of 9.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Steeves is a solid shooter, connecting on 46 percent of his field goals last year, and hell bring a jolt of experience as well as an assist to the frontcourt for George Washington. The defending NIT champions lost Patricio Garino and Kevin Larsen, the teams second- and third-leading scorers from a year ago.Emile Blackman, Duquesne DukesThe Dukes have made steady progress under fifth-year coach Jim Ferry but still havent crossed the threshold to become legitimate A-10 contenders. Blackman might help. He, along with?Kale Abrahamson, are the?first two graduate transfers in the programs history, and theyre arriving at a critical time. Duquesne loses its top-three scorers in Derrick Colter, Michah Mason and L.G. Gill and need some firepower. These two have it. Blackman scored more than 900 points in two seasons at Niagara, leading the Purple Eagles in scoring at 15.8 points per game before opting to leave after receiving his degree. Abrahamson arrives from Drake, where he averaged 11.1 points per game from his forward position. But its Blackman, who fills a vacant backcourt role, who will be especially critical as Ferry tries to improve on the Dukes 17-17 record from a year ago.
