RIO DE JANEIRO -- The Netherlands doesnt get humiliated often in mens field hockey. When it happens, the Dutch dont forget.Armed with memories from a blowout loss to Australia in the World Cup Final in 2014, the Netherlands took control from the start of their Olympic quarterfinal match. Billy Bakker scored 49 seconds into the match to set the tone in a 4-0 victory on Sunday. The energy we had -- maybe for some guys, the way we lost the World Cup Final was in the back of their heads, Dutch player Bob de Voogd said, referring to the 6-1 loss. The energy we had, the desire to go to the semifinal, was really big today.Australia coach Graham Reid knew what was happening right away. That game was probably two years in the making, Reid said. That World Cup -- there was a fair few of those boys who were out there tonight who had that deep-seated want for revenge. The quarterfinal matched the worlds top two teams, something the second-ranked Dutch didnt expect so early. But top-ranked Australia slipped and finished third in its pool.It was pretty surprising, Dutch player Sander Baart said. I think Australia didnt show their best hockey in the Pool A, and thats why we faced them in the quarterfinals right now, because we played quite all right in our pool. The Australians had medaled in six consecutive Olympics, claiming gold in 2004 and bronze in 2008 and 2012.Its a disappointing thing to go out in the quarterfinals, Reid said. You get those opportunities once every four years, and all the things weve done over the past four years have put us in a position where you feel as though everything is in the right place. The Dutch advanced to play Belgium in the semifinals on Tuesday. Belgium defeated India 3-1 earlier in the day. After Bakkers early goal, Australia dominated possession in the second period, but the Netherlands consistently made good defensive plays in the circle. The Dutch then added to their lead when de Voogd knocked one in late in the second.Valentin Verga scored for the Dutch early in the third period, and Mink van der Weerden added another goal early in the fourth. It feels pretty strong, de Voogd said. The control we had in the game there -- the focus. We stayed together the whole time. We prepared so good for this game, we know what our plan was and we executed what we had to do.Goalie Jaap Stockmann registered the shutout for the Netherlands. Now, the Dutch can focus on neighboring Belgium, a nation they play often. We know that they are a really good team, De Voogd said. They showed it right from the start in the tournament. Theyre playing really good hockey.---Follow Cliff Brunt on Twitter (at)CliffBruntAP Discount Nike Air Max Plus .C. -- Todd Fiddler scored a hat trick, including the overtime goal, as the Prince George Cougars survived an 8-7 win against the Kamloops Blazers in Western Hockey League play Sunday. RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin called for a review of training policies for law enforcement across the country on Thursday in the wake of a pair of police shootings, saying the message NFL players are trying to send with their actions during the national anthem now needs follow through.Youve heard the message, youve seen the protest and now were working on the follow through, Baldwin said. Again, were only a small group, a small portion of the population and there are people out there that have greater power than we do. Our voice is still going to continue to be heard but at the same time we need those that have the power to make the changes and act.Baldwin gave a prepared statement in a fashion similar to what teammate Richard Sherman did a day earlier but then expanded on his initial comments. Baldwin made the request for all 50 state attorneys general to call for a review of their policies and training policies for police and law enforcement to eliminate militaristic cultures while putting a higher emphasis on de-escalation tactics and crisis management measures.Baldwin said he had consulted with his father, a police officer in Pensacola, Florida, to gather information. Baldwin has also reached out to local law enforcement and elected officials in the Seattle area. His request caught the attention of at least one attorney general, Washingtons Bob Ferguson, who tweeted from the offices official account that he would be reaching out to speak with Baldwin. The situation thats upon us right now, whats going on in our country, its devastating, but now it has to reach a point of intolerable.dddddddddddd We cannot tolerate this, Baldwin said. Lives are being lost and there are questions that need to be answered and people deserve an answer and I think thats where were at right now.Baldwin and Shermans statements came in the wake of a pair of police shootings, one in Charlotte, North Carolina, another in Tulsa, Oklahoma.Baldwin said he was inspired to speak out Thursday by the video of the incident in Tulsa, where a white police officer fatally shot an unarmed black man on a city street. When you see numerous instances like this happen, and again, you dont know all the context, but youre asking questions. And we also know that the laws that are in place and policies that are in place that protect the law enforcement from any persecution, we understand that theres an inherent risk that comes with being a police officer. But that should not be the case of being a citizen in the United States, Baldwin said. There should not be an inherent risk when you have an encounter with law enforcement. There should not be a concern or worry that the law enforcement is not there to protect you. And I think that were raising a culture or society right now that is questioning that very sentiment. And so as a human being, I cant help but sit up here and tell you how I feel and let you know that its not OK.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL China NFL Jerseys Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys NFL Jerseys Cheap Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap Basketball Jerseys Online Stitched Hockey Jerseys Wholesale Baseball Jerseys Football Jerseys Outlet College Jerseys For Sale Cheap MLB Jerseys Wholesale Soccer Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys For Sale Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '
