HOMESTEAD, Fla. --?Rick Hendrick expects?Dale Earnhardt Jr.?to receive his final clearance from doctors in the next six weeks, which will allow him to return to Sprint Cup racing in February.Sometime in December, the doctor is going to give him final clearance, and then well get him in a car, Hendrick said Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He feels great. Everything is on track.Earnhardt, who will miss his 18th straight race this weekend as he recovers from vision and balance issues caused by a concussion suffered in June, has repeatedly said that his rehabilitation and recovery have been on track for a February return.NASCAR will allow Earnhardt to participate in a private test to allow doctors to approve his return to racing.Every step that we supposedly need to go through, weve gone through. I dont see anything holding us back, Hendrick said. I think weve just got a couple of more hurdles.Earnhardt has been replaced by Jeff Gordon and Alex Bowman over the second half of the season. Oliver leads the conference in forced fumbles (four) and is the nations active leader in that category with a school-record 11.ONE-TWO PUNCH:Penn State QB Trace McSorley and RB Saquon Barkley have been impressive co-stars all season. Barkley goes into the weekend as the Big Tens rushing leader and only 1,000-yard runner. He also leads the league in all-purpose yards (1,329) and is second in touchdowns (13). McSorley, meanwhile, is throwing for 228.7 yards per game and has 14 TD passes, enough to make defenses play honest.GRINDING IT OUTWilson has spent the last month trying to get his ground game started. Despite having a huge day against Maryland out of the wildcat formation, the Hoosiers are still looking for consistency. And theyll need a more balanced attack to have a chance against Penn State.TURNOVERSEarly this season, the Hoosiers were among the nations best in turnover margin. But one reason theyve been up-and-down during the conference season has been their inability to play clean football. QB Richard Lagow has thrown 13 interceptions, tied for the most in the league, and the Hoosiers have slipped to minus-3 in margin.
