With continuing action in the second round of the NBA Playoff, here are my five quick thoughts from the NBA. 1. ROY HIBBERT (Pacers): Really like the strategy of the Pacers on Saturday night. Pound New York inside and make them pay dearly for their lack of interior defense, particularly when Tyson Chandler is out of the lineup. Hibbert got deep position and made them pay with his good footwork and skill level in the post. Hes an improving guy with a developing comfort level. It takes "big guy" time and patience from everyone around them to hit their stride. Hes not there yet but I loved what I saw from him. 2. TAYSHAUN PRINCE (Grizzlies): He really fits. Guards, moves without the ball, makes timely plays and is very efficient. So nice having a veteran player who has played in a ton of big games from his time in Detroit. Hes a calm influence on their team. He doesnt need the ball a lot and when he has it, he knows what to do with it. New lease on life for him after being mired in a rebuilding situation in Detroit. Good pickup. 3. IMAN SHUMPERT (Knicks): Not able to practice Monday for New York due to sore knee. Hopefully hell be ready to go Tuesday night. Love how hes bounced back from injury/surgery. Ma, does he guard! He has exceptional quickness and strength and is a load to deal with in terms of trying to feel comfortable offensively against him. His offensive game is getting more fluid and hes got major league explosiveness in his game. I look at him and Im really fascinated with his potential. This could be a huge off-season for him for his improvement and all of this post-season experience will make him that much better and a more aware player. 4. HARRISON BARNES (Warriors): His team really needed him on Sunday and he delivered. Yes, it took a whole lot of shots for him to do it yet the fact that hes in a winning environment and being force fed the minutes and being asked to produce in tight spots propels his growth as a player in rapid fashion. He really looks like he belongs out there. I give coach Mark Jackson a ton of credit for staying with him and believing in him. His faith is paying off. Many coaches wont throw rookies to the wolves - theyve thrown him here in a winning environment and look at the results. Good vision. 5. LIONEL HOLLINS (Grizzlies): Cant believe this guy is still coaching without a contract for next season. You dont see it affecting his players one bit. They have deep respect for him and he makes no issue of his status and they just go out and play their game. He has really matured from when he started as a head coach in his previous stint in Vancouver. The man has paid his dues in the league as a player, assistant coach and now head coach. Nothing fazes him. He teaches/coaches a hard-nosed and defensive/power oriented style and it works for him. Two more wins versus OKC and Id be shocked if he doesnt get his extension. He deserves it. Argentina boasts Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Aguero, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Angel Di Maria. Wholesale Air Max Australia . Supply Air Max Plus Australia . I cant pinpoint a date, but I do remember a player from my youth. Brian Downing was with the Chicago White Sox at a time when I listened to every game I possibly could on the radio. That particular season the late great Harry Caray was calling the White Sox games. Air Max Plus Australia Outlet . Parker had 26 points and eight assists and San Antonio beat Toronto 112-99 Monday night. "We won that game because of Tony Parkers aggressiveness," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "His juice; his aggression all night long. Its that time of year -- the final stretch -- when the Pac-12s nine-game conference schedule comes up.Washington is undefeated, at No. 4 in the AP Top 25 , and at No. 5 in the first College Football Playoff rankings. The Huskies appear to have a good shot at one of the four playoff spots -- if all the pieces fall into place.Last season, Stanford, with one loss on the road in the opener against Northwestern, looked like a possible contender for one of the four playoff spots, if only the Cardinal could finish strong. The Ducks proved to be spoilers, upsetting the Cardinal 38-36 at Stanford Stadium on Nov. 14.That sparked discussion about the leagues nine-game schedule. In the Power Five conferences, the Southeastern Conference and the Atlantic Coast Conference play eight-game slates. The Big Ten went to nine games this season. The nine-game schedule has been criticized because its obviously more difficult, and theres less likelihood that a team will finish undefeated -- which therefore lowers the odds of getting coveted playoff berths. That challenges a conference where some key matchups are played late, impacting visibility. On the other side, there are those who say the tougher schedule, paired with a conference championship, creates better teams. We discuss it every couple of years, it comes up, Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said this weekend. I think with the new college football playoff we were thinking, `Is this the best model? Is there a different model? But I think we all believe strength of schedule will be rewarded by the selection committee if there are teams with similar records. That said, Scott said hed like to see the other conferences rise to the nine-game level.Across the league, coaches said theyd just like it to be equal -- at either eight or nine games -- across all conferences. If I just give you my own opinion of it, its pretty simple for me: All Power 5 teams should do the exact same thing. If they dont, its not fair. That being said, they all dont. Because its very, very difficult when you say youre going to play nine games within your schedule and then youre going to go beat each other up. But if everybody else is beating each other up, then I think its fine, Oregon State coach Gary Andersen said.Utah Coach Kyle Whittingham agreed: I dont lobby for it, but in my opinion all the Power 5 conferences should play the same amount of conference games and make it a level playing ffield and some standardization there.ddddddddddddBecause when you play a ninth game that gives everyone in the conference a chance to get another loss.Whittingham took it a step further, saying that hed like to see the playoffs expanded so that all the conference champions get in.To me it doesnt make any sense to not have a level playing field and then not have every champion get in. It doesnt make sense to me at all, he said.If were all feeding into a playoff system lets just play by the same rules, said Stanford coach David Shaw, who also suggested across-the-board consistency in non-conference scheduling against lower-tier teams.Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre said playing fewer games certainly hasnt hampered the SEC -- raising the point that the conference likely wont fix something that isnt broken for them.I think its a good thing that we do it, but I dont know if its really an advantage or not. I think its more talk that they keep playing those eight games and nothing happens, MacIntyre said.Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez said the nine-game schedule means that theres uneven home and away games, which also seems inequitable. The only thing about nine is there are five on the road and four at home, so its uneven every year and not every Power 5 conference has that, he said. That, and the championship game, makes the road to the playoffs so much harder in our league than maybe in others. The Huskies play at California this weekend, then host USC and Arizona State. The key game for Washington could turn out to be the Apple Cup rivalry game on Nov. 25 against Washington State, which popped into the AP rankings this week.It was no surprise that Washington coach Chris Petersen said he was in favor of uniformity across the conference landscape.I think so. And I know everyones conference is different, but I think you just look at the NFL and its pretty cut and dry. Theres only 32 teams, but everybodys doing the same thing, he said. And so how can you make it as much the same thing? Well, lets play the same amount of conference games, at least, so were on the same page there.---AP Sports Writer Tim Booth in Seattle, AP Sports Writer Kareem Copeland in Salt Lake City, and AP freelancers Monica Costello in Colorado and Michael Wagaman in California, contributed to this report.
