Trey Kell scored 12 points and Winston Shepard totaled 10 points and six rebounds for the Aztecs (13-4, 3-1 MWC), who have won six of their last seven games. Larry Nance Jr. had 19 points and eight boards, while Josh Adams supplied 14 points and five rebounds for the Cowboys (15-3, 4-1), who had their seven-game winning streak come to an end. San Diego State went ahead 19-14 with 6:12 to play in the first half after Shepard supplied seven points during a 9-2 spurt.
