Newcastles defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday heaped more pressure on boss Steve McClaren. But who at Newcastle is responsible for making a decision on his future? Owner Mike Ashley remains an important figure, however, when McClaren was appointed last June, he stepped down from the board along with former financial director John Irving. The former England manager was added to the board in a surprise move - the first time a Premier League manager had ever been named on a board. At that point, Newcastle formed a four-man board of McClaren, managing director Lee Charnley, former captain Bob Moncur and chief scout Graham Carr. Here, with the help of Sky Sports News HQ reporter Keith Downie, we answer some key questions around those Newcastle decision makers…Whats the role of those four board members? Lee Charnley is the main decision maker on the board. Charnley was the one who brought McClaren to Newcastle - and it would be his call to sack him. Owner Ashley could say its not working and task Charnley with firing McClaren and bringing someone else in, but Ashley doesnt do that himself. Ashleys PR man Keith Bishop is often in Newcastle and attended the game on Saturday. He would have been having meetings with members of the board. Keith Downie says there is a wall of silence at Newcastle over the future of manager Steve McClaren Graham Carr is the chief scout. Hes not based at Newcastle but is responsible for identifying talent and bringing the clubs signings in. Most of the transfers into Newcastle are down to him and then it is up to the manager to get the most out of them and fit them into his team. However, in January, McClaren was able to identify two players he wanted to bring in himself: Andros Townsend and Jonjo Shelvey.Bob Moncur is a club ambassador. He played for Newcastle in the 1960s and 70s and captained them to the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969. Moncur has been involved with the club for a long time and is a familiar face at St James Park. Hes also a favourite of the fans. Steve McClaren was added to the Newcastle board last summer McClaren is the final name on the board. He was given the role, according to Charnley, to gain a full understanding and appreciation for the club and its operations as a whole, not just the football side. Are the board discussing McClarens future? The latest news is that, on Monday, those board members are holding talks on McClarens future. Charnley was at St James Park earlier - but the discussion may well be taking place away from Newcastle or by conference call, rather than all three members needing to be at the stadium. What would happen to McClarens role on the board should he be sacked? McClaren being on the board could prove a sticking point as he would have to resign from his position, but that would probably be written into his contract in the case of him being sacked as head coach. OMAHA, Neb. -- Cammile Adams got a scare Wednesday when she was disqualified from the 200-meter butterfly after posting the fastest qualifying time in the preliminaries at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials. After a video review, the decision was overturned and she remained in the hunt for a spot on her second straight Olympic team.A deck official initially ruled Adams was on her back instead of her stomach coming off the 150-meter wall, and she was DQd, which triggers an underwater review. Her time of 2 minutes, 8.29 seconds was fastest among 16 qualifiers for the evening semifinals. When I saw it, obviously a little bit of panic, a lot of panic, Adams said. But just really thankful for the system we have. I got to go back to the head official and just look at the underwater camera. With it being overturned, obviously Im very, very thankful.David Marsh, Adams coach, said the underwater camera showed Adams toes off the wall with her fully on her side moving toward her stomach on the last turn of the four-lap race. This was a case where having more technology is the right thing to do, said Marsh, who will coach the U.S. womens team in Rio de Janeiro. You want to give the benefit to the athlete.Marsh described Adams as being blown away by the DQ.Cams the kind of person who doesnt do anything wrong, much less a turn, Marsh said. Every time she touches the wall, itss with two hands.dddddddddddd The problem we get in here is that when the swimmers are coming through the rotation on a turn, all butterfliers who touch the wall drop the shoulder to slip under the water and then push off. So once youre under the water, its hard to really get a clear idea of if youre really on your back side or stomach.Adams finished fifth in the 200 fly at the London Olympics. She planned to do some extra turns during warm-ups before the evening semis.Im not worried, she said. Im very, very confident in what weve done this past year.In other preliminaries, defending Olympic champion Nathan Adrian was the top qualifier in the 100 freestyle in 48.43 seconds. Also advancing to the evening semifinals was Anthony Ervin, who at 35 is the oldest man competing at trials.Ryan Lochte qualified sixth-fastest but dropped out to get further treatment for a groin injury that has compromised his performances at trials. He is focused on making the team in the 200 individual medley, which starts Thursday. Lochte is already going to Rio de Janeiro as a relay swimmer, but he wants to swim an individual event.Kevin Cordes was the top qualifier in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:08.54. He already made the team in the 100 breast. ' ' '
