The NFL has increased the salary cap by $12m (£8.65m) for the 2016 season to a total of $155.27m (£112m). The NFL Players Association revealed the new figures late on Friday, with the maximum teams can spend on their payroll increasing from last seasons figure of $143.28m.It represents a doubling in the leagues salary cap since 2003, with the salary cap having started out life in 1994 at only $34.6m per team (£24.95m).
